Ph.D. Positions in Management Engineering :

Politecnico di Milano School of Management (SoM) seeks candidates for Ph.D. positions in Management Engineering for the next cohort which starts in November 2022.

The Ph.D. Program in Management Engineering (DRIG) is a full-time (3 years) curriculum of study and research at the crossroad of management, economics, and industrial engineering.

SoM has a solid commitment to excellence in teaching and research. The DRIG Ph.D. trains students for high-level academic and practice-oriented research. The employment rate of its graduates is strikingly high (approximately 95%). Many DRIG Ph.D. graduates - who chose to pursue an academic career - are now professors in high-ranked universities, while the others who decided to work in the private sector instead, have achieved relevant positions.

Candidates have a structured study plans and attend courses that expose them to diverse theories and methods. While preparing their Ph.D. thesis, students are encouraged to combine diverse perspectives, span disciplinary boundaries, and, more generally, think out of the box.

The deadline for applications is 20th May 2022 at 14:00 (CEST TIME).

No application shall be accepted after the deadline.

The Selection Committee will assess candidates based on their CV, motivation letter, as well as their research project. The Committee will interview short-listed candidates (preferably online).

The admission ranking will be published on 18th July 2022.

  • Building sustainable and resilient supply chains
  • Customer Analytics and quantitative marketing models
  • Green Supply Chain Management and Supply Chain Risk Management: understanding the relationship and framing synergistic Supply Chain Design strategies
  • Imagining Desirable Futures and Leading Transformations
  • Innovative Digital Procurement to manage supply chain risk, sustainability and finance
  • Metaverse And Immersive Experience Analysis
  • Methods and Tools for monitoring sustainability indicators in manufacturing
  • New methods for assessing and measuring traditional and emerging issues in international business
  • Organization 4.0 and the future of work and organizations
  • Policy and Innovation for social impact
  • Re-designing Research Funding in the post COVID-19 era for High-Risk Transformative Science
  • The role of Operational Excellence Approaches for sustainability

Three topic scholarships will also be available:

  • Design to value unveiling hidden applications in exisying/emerging technologies
  • Open system architectures, project organizing and the industrial dynamics of the new space economy
  • Operations improvement and digitalisation (Double degree from Politecnico di Milano and Universidad Politecnica de Madrid)

Two interdisciplinary scholarships are offered (in cooperation with other Departments)

  • Designing the supply chains of the future: scaling-up the use of new sustainable materials in the construction industry (in cooperation with the PhD program in Architecture, Built Environment and Construction Engineering);
  • Woman mobilities in the pandemic area. Towards a more inclusive mobility (in cooperation with the PhD Program in Urban Planning, Design, And Policy).

Candidates can apply for one or more of the above mentioned scholarships by selecting them individually during the application process.

Candidates will received € 1,400 net per month and the amount will cover tuition fees. The candidates will be offered an office space, access to the library as well as to software and databases. Ph.D. students will receive a research budget and additional funds during their six-month mandatory period abroad. They can also increase their salary by working as teaching assistants and tutors.
